Federal vs. state rules
Federal law (the 25-year rule) governs whether a Kei vehicle can be imported. Each state then decides independently whether it can be titled, registered, and driven on public roads.
How we verify
Every status is compiled against official state sources and an independent cross-check, with a last-verified date and change-watch note on each state page. Where rules are case-by-case, we say so rather than oversimplify.
